Neil Grant

Neil Grant worked with Alto Tatum long enough to understand some of the magic behind the man who defined music retail in Texas. Well respected and often sought out for advice and ideas, Alto gained the reputation few have in the business. Neil felt blessed to have had such a mentor. Neil took over as President of the Tatum Music Store when Alto became ill and ran the store after Alto’s passing in 2004. Nearly 20 years after his first interview, Neil provided a follow-up on the occasion of the store’s 75th anniversary. For the interview, Neil sat in the newly remodeled store following a big fire at the old location. “Nothing stops us from serving our customers” he added.
