Robin Walenta attended the University of Northern Iowa and Middle Tennessee State University before joining West Music in 1982. She was named president/CEO of the company in 2007. Robin was appointed to the NAMM ExCom and has also served as a board member for the National Association of School Music Dealers and treasurer for the Iowa Alliance for Art Education. Robin is also a member of the Support Music Coalition, the Retail Print Music Dealers Association, ASID, the Alliance of Independent Music Merchants and Omega. Along with DeDe Heid and Crystal Morris, Robin founded Women of NAMM (WoN), which promotes women's representation in music products, pro audio, and entertainment technology. It supports female leadership with the mission to connect, support, and grow women in the industry.
