Don Felder
Oral History Information
Don Felder was just a kid in Gainesville when he traded firecrackers for an old guitar and embarked on a self-taught musical journey. His natural affinity for the guitar was evident from a young age; as a teenager, he was already teaching others at his local music store, including a young Tom Petty. Don’s talent and determination led him to play in numerous bands, some of which he formed himself until he ultimately became a key member of the Eagles. His masterful guitar work and songwriting were instrumental in shaping the band’s iconic sound, contributing to timeless hits like "Hotel California" and "Visions." Beyond his musical career, Don has been a dedicated advocate for music education, actively supporting school programs and performing at fundraisers, including one for NAMM’s Museum of Making Music, where his NAMM Oral History was recorded.
