Dr. Mable John played many roles for a wide variety of people. She was a singer, songwriter, arranger, producer, author, educator, leader, minister, mentor, and friend. Her career as a backup singer and soloist set records at Stax Records, with Ray Charles and within the church. Graceful and always respected, Dr. John was been a teacher to her students and her audiences. She received many awards for her service to music and music education including the AMC Support Music Award in 2004.
