Frank Fendorf
Oral History Information
Frank Fendorf served as a school band director for many years beginning with the high school band in Warrensburg, MO in 1947. He enjoyed the role of band director and in fact was doing just that when his friend Merle Jones called. Mr. Jones and his partner, George Wingert, opened a music store in Kansas City, MO in 1960. The three were close friends and when George passed away in 1965, Merle could think of no one else to take his place but Frank Fendorf. Wingert-Jones was a print music retail shop and Frank was a perfect fit with Merle. Frank later became president of the store. Along the way, Frank teamed with other print music dealers to form an association to present issues of the day and gather on an annual basis to build the business. The Retail Print Music Dealers Association (RPMDA) has grown over the years to include an exhibit hall and programs and presentations that often have been praised for fostering growth among print music dealers.
