Tom Thompson
Oral History Information
Tom Thompson first heard an organ in a small church as a child and knew at that moment that somehow, someway, that instrument would be a part of his life. He was right! His first job in the industry was dusting organs and pianos in a small store, where he was able to play on all the latest models. That lead to a job performing with the Hammond Organ first for Sherman Clay stores, then for the Hammond Organ Company out of Chicago. He performed in music stores all around the world and later became the National Sales Manager for Hammond. Like so many people involved with the industry, Tom made lifelong friends throughout his career, many of who had made the suggestion that Tom should be interviewed for the NAMM Oral History program, a task completed in January 2019 with great success.
