Music in Our Schools Month

Each March, NAfME, NAMM, education partners, and music educators across the country commemorate Music in Our Schools Month (MIOSM)—a national celebration to raise awareness about the importance of having access to a quality music education available to all children.  

A vital component of this annual effort is when school boards and/or state governors issue proclamations affirming that access to music education is essential in their communities.

This year several pieces of legislation are being introduced in Congress in support of music education and to nationally recognize MIOSM, and we urge NAMM members to reach out to your representatives using the tools created by our partners at NAfME by March 31, 2023.  

In addition, all members of the music community are encouraged to participate in the “What Music Means to Me” campaign by sharing stories about the impact music has on their lives.
