Ankit Yogi fondly recalls that his musically inclined grandfather inspired him to play the drums at an early age. His grandfather, affectionately known in the music industry as Mr. Yogi, established a reputable wood supply company in India to support musical instrument manufacturers in 1975. The company, Overseas Traders, is now in its third generation and proudly provides high-quality rosewood for guitars, among other types of exotic woods. In 2012, Ankit began working full-time with his father and learned firsthand the meticulous traditions and intricate processes of sorting, drying, and cutting exotic woods to be used for guitar backs, sides, fretboards, and bridges. Even before the stringent requirements brought on by the CITES regulations of 2016, Overseas Traders were already proactively working with environmental foundations to plant thousands of saplings and to foster the development of nurseries around his country. He expressed his profound sense of responsibility to ensure these beautiful woods will be around for generations to come, because he is genuinely passionate about his business and his pivotal role in crafting exceptional musical instruments.
