Bo Engberg was asked by a guitarist friend if he would please build a better amplifier. That one request from a friend change the direction of his career because Bo soon discovered he really enjoyed the inner workings of the amp and thought of a few ways he could improve on the design and functionality. Fast forward to 1979 when he created his first amp and again to 1985 by which time he had sold over 600 units. Bo then found his current partner, an audio engineer who was capable of doing what was needed, Mats Kristoffersson. The two focused on creating the bass preamp EBS-1 which was launched in 1988. The products first users were Billy Talbot from Neil Young and the Crazy Horse band, Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Jimmy "finger-licking" Earl from Chick Corea's band. The company also introduced Stanley Clark and Billy Sheehan signature models as well as supporting musicians like Marcus Miller on world-wide tours. At the 2019 NAMM show the company introduced the Reidmar502 lightweight amp and the MicroBass3 bass unit. Bo stated in his NAMM Oral History interview that he is humbled in looking at their product development and how it all began because a friend needed help fixing an amp.
