Carole Moss
Oral History Information
Carole Moss grew up in Southern California with a deep passion for music. At 17, she met drummer and songwriter Ty Moss, who would become her husband. Together, they attended numerous star-studded concerts and special events, including the NAMM Show. Their lives took a tragic turn when their beloved 15-year-old son, Nile, passed away due to complications from MRSA, a severe antibiotic-resistant infection. Determined to raise awareness about MRSA and sepsis, Carole and Ty founded Nile’s Project in 2007. They collaborated with organizations like the CDC and the Patient Safety Action Network to educate the public on infection prevention. Utilizing Ty’s musical background, they hosted concerts and community events to disseminate vital health information. Carole’s unwavering dedication led her to speak at the White House Forum on Antibiotic Stewardship in 2015. Through tireless advocacy, Carole and Ty honor Nile’s memory by striving to prevent similar tragedies in other families.
