Emma Lou Diemer had a long and successful career as a composer, writing classical, choral, and hymn-based organ music. Her work has been published by over 40 different music publishers, including several who requested she write method books and beginner music, which have become key works for music teachers and music education classes. Along the way, she also wrote electronic music using several early synthesizers, including the Moog. In 1971, she began teaching composition at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she helped to create an electronic computer music program.
