Gordy Wilcher
Oral History Information
Gordy Wilcher believes that with the right mixture of passion and knowledge, the independent music retailer has the strength to bring music to young students, build new brands within their stores and pass along the joy of music to those who walk through their doors. And every day from 1973 until his store closed in 2019, Gordy and his staff did just that. In 1973, he bought the music store from his boss and mentor who was retiring and renamed it Owensboro Music Center. Since the time Gordy closed the store, he continues to be an active music maker and promoter of all things music in Owensboro and serves as the director of sales for Whitfill Custom Guitars.
