Harry Voshell
Oral History Information
Harry Voshell started playing the saxophone in the fourth grade and fell in love! His interest in music grew over the years as he served in the United States Navy, where he played in several bands during his three years in the service. During college he studied music with an idea of becoming a high school band director but an opportunity to work in a music store sidelined that idea, and his career path headed right into music retail where he spent his entire career. Harry starting working for B&B Music, which at the time mostly sold records and tapes. Harry convinced the owners to carry band instruments, which they officially began selling in 1963. He was later given the chance to buy the store, which he did. Along the way his son got involved and later purchased the store from Harry so he could retire. Harry was very proud of his career in music and equally proud that his son, Roy, has his same passion for providing musical instruments to musicians of all ages.
