Humberto Vela

Humberto Vela is the Executive Director of The Academy of Musical Performance, which seeks to provide musical training for young students in the Coachella Valley. The AMP’s mission is to provide contemporary lessons to encourage and boost young students "by fostering productivity and social responsibility through creativity, communication and collaboration in the development and enhancement of musical performance and concert production skills through participation in a ‘rock band’ style educational setting.” Humberto is able to witness firsthand the positive effects music has on those who participate in the AMP’s many programs. During his 2023 NAMM Oral History interview, Humberto mentioned “it is a joy to see their faces light up when they play together.”
