John Phillips discovered his passion for music at the age of ten when his mother enrolled him in drum and bugle corps training. His decade-long experience as a bugler instilled in him a deep appreciation for teamwork and the joy of musical collaboration. As he transitioned into teaching and judging, John became a vocal advocate for inclusion and innovation, helping corps members excel while focusing on their strengths. His creative talents extended into composition, arranging music for corps, and even writing pieces for clarinet ensembles. One of his compositions, performed by a band in Ireland during the pandemic, holds special significance for him, reflecting the far-reaching impact of his musical journey.
