Kyle Barker's journey in the piano retail industry began in 1969, when the esteemed Sherman & Clay Piano Company in Northern California welcomed him aboard. Steeped in a rich musical tradition, Kyle's entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Barker Music in Modesto just five years later, a venture that would expand to encompass guitars and percussion. Kyle opened a second store in Stockton, increasing his opportunities to serve the music community and develop more music makers. While running his growing business, Kyle remains an active musician, lending his talents to group performances and solo endeavors. His boundless passion for music permeates every aspect of his life, evident to all who step into his stores or hear him perform. From his inaugural NAMM Oral History interview in 2009 to his second in 2024, Kyle has provided insightful details about his musical journey and often proudly states the pride he has in living a life rich with music!
