Melissa Foster loves talking about the Bluegrass group her family formed, beginning when she was just a child. The Foster Family String Band toured all over the United States, mostly on weekends and school holidays. Playing mandolin in the band, Melissa recalls the closeness she felt with her parents (Ann and Bill) as well as her brother Will, who played banjo. They recorded several albums, mostly in Muscle Shoals Alabama’s Wishbone Studios. Among their songs most requested at Bluegrass Festivals are “Ugly Girl” (her dad was also a comedian), “I’ve Been Everywhere” and an instrument Will wrote called “Gun Barrel Road
