This audio only interview was conducted for a radio program by Dan Del Fiorentino and donated to the NAMM Oral History program: Patti Page was the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner who broke out from the role as a band singer during the swing era to create a very successful solo career, which paved the way for many other vocalists in the late 1940s and 50s. Among her biggest hits were the amorously popular "Tennessee Waltz," as well as "How Much Is that Doggie in the Window," "I Went to Your Wedding," and "Old Cape Cod.” Patti performed with a number of big bands before recording her first solo record in 1947 entitled Confess. By 1965, she had recorded 15 different million selling songs with the most popular being "Tennessee Waltz."
