Music Dealers "Capitolize" on Washington-Area NAMM University Sessions

Carlsbad, CA

58 NAMM Members from MI retail stores in the Washington, D.C./Baltimore area recently sharpened their selling skills at NAMM University’s “Beyond the Competitive Edge in Sales” course, taught by Mark Patey and held on March 20 and 21.

The NAMM U course attendees learned how to push through rejection, overcome objections and sell value over price in different selling situations. Patey also introduced the dealers to new sales tools to match their individual personality types. His teaching of universal principles rather than soon-forgotten techniques allowed attendees to formulate sales presentations to fit their specific environments and clientele.

“We’re thrilled to see this level of support for NAMM U in the D.C./Baltimore area,” said Randy Beck, NAMM’s director of professional development. “Mark Patey is one of our most dynamic and inspiring instructors and we’re happy to help connect his teaching with the business needs of our Members.”

“Mark was absolutely amazing,” said Kathy Sakowitz of Jordan Kitts Music. Jason Wechs of the Music Emporium added, “The valuable lessons that Mr. Patey taught us are not just about selling, but about life.”

“Retailers in the music products industry are by far the most real, most passionate people out there,” said Patey. “They do it for the love of music and they really want to learn.”

NAMM University offers in-person one- and two-day courses in more than 35 cities across North America and now offers 20 courses that are available to Members 24/7 online at www.nammuniversity.com.
