NAMM members will have access to the most essential menu of professional enrichment sessions in the NAMM Show’s history when the world’s leading trade event for the music-products industry returns January 23-26, 2014. The Anaheim Convention Center will light up with technological savvy, marketing innovations, and fresh business approaches at Retail Boot Camp, the NAMM Idea Center, the H.O.T. Zone, and iconic Breakfast Sessions.

“Our industry is not a ‘one size fits all’ market but rather a complex ecosystem of profitable niches begging to be served,” said NAMM president and CEO Joe Lamond. “Members nimble enough to learn how to change, grow and serve these niches will have the best chance for success. NAMM U has the secrets, straight from the industry pros who have figured it out. You’re definitely going to want to be here for this.”

Among the many key business issues explored this year will be how to master, understand, and make technology best support future success in the music products industry. Other NAMM U sessions explore how to create a bustling music-lesson program, hot product trends, and dynamic, proven promotional ideas. Sessions are all-new for 2014, and are presented by groundbreakers and innovators on every level of music-products retail, manufacturing, and music and sound production.

Starting Wednesday morning before the Show actually begins, Retail Boot Camp cuts straight to the unique dilemma inherent in running a music retail store in the age of technology. This year’s all-new session illuminates ways to leverage websites and social media efforts to boost sales and fuel profitability. The popular Breakfast Sessions, including opening day’s high-profile Breakfast of Champions, offer in-depth discussions with industry leaders and celebrities parsing their proven strategies for doing business in today's competitive marketplace.

More than 40 Idea Center sessions will help NAMM Members navigate a variety of business topics, including mobile marketing, demystifying the changing face of Facebook, and new ideas to streamline store operations. Leading retailers will share their success stories straight from the trenches. The H.O.T. (Hands-On Training) Zone caters to issues facing pro audio, entertainment technologies, and recording industries. Professionals will headline sessions on studio design, iPad technology, MIDI applications, stage lighting and production, and much more.

The seventh annual Music Education Days will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Show. Music educators and administrators are encouraged to preview the latest instruments, products and tools that will drive comprehensive music education programs in the future. NAMM Foundation sessions cover a wide variety of topics, including bridging the gap between middle and high school music students, the resonant influence of music teachers, and iPad technology for music educators.

NAMM Foundation's Generation Next offers college music majors firsthand insight into their chosen field, and the opportunity to network with industry leaders. A keynote speech by musician Ben Folds and thoughtful panel discussions will enrich the music products industry’s future leaders with solid career guidance.
