His path led him to Cherokee Studios, where he absorbed knowledge from talented engineers like his future collaborator, Bill Smith. This connection ultimately brought him to Capitol Records, where Steve spent over two decades, most notably working alongside the legendary Al Schmitt. As Al’s trusted Pro Tools expert, Steve’s role was vital in many high-profile projects, forging a deep bond with his mentor.
